First things first, huge hugz to everyone! {{{{Everyone}}}} I've not meant to be ignoring anyone at all and am sorry I've not been around to even say "hello" lately. I've missed everyone terribly and I'm sure I've missed loads of laughs and fun, too!

Lately I've been feeling like I have let myself become a pretty one-dimensional being. I work, work, think about work, write about work, talk about work and oh yea...work some more.

Last night brought the first snow storm of winter to our doorstep. This is highly abnormal considering most folks around here were still wearing shorts yesterday and we don't even usually have winter until December or January!

Tequila is legal… but pot is not? How is this right? It makes no sense! I've done plenty of both drinkin' and smoking in my life. I can tell ya a few things I've figured out: One shot of tequila, ok. The first shot is down, let's have another.

Back in August I wrote an article about children of incarcerated parents. The article was inspired by a Texas inmate named Joe and his daughter, Lily. Joe is serving what he calls a double life sentence and is currently housed in an Ad-Seg (administrative segregation) unit.

In a discussion with some friends here a couple weeks ago, I agreed to write an article about breast cancer awareness and post it this month. How very typical of me to jump in first and think about it later.

October. I can't believe it's October. Again. I've been trying to ignore its arrival. Not looking ahead on the calendar because… Well, because if I look it'll be October and I'm never ready.

I am going to be offline for a few days while Steve and I get moved into our new place. We are both very excited and can't wait to get settled. It's not a palace, it's a modified/remodeled double wide out in the middle of the desert.

This is an excerpt from a request for help that came into T.I.M.E. here recently from an inmate named Brandon. We have managed to verify from outside sources and get corroboration from other inmates inside on all of the acts of abuse listed here.

Two million people…two million people in cages…I stand before those numbers completely humbled and realize on some level that our tiny organization is but a teaspoon in the sea of people in need of help. Some days it feels like we're a teaspoon without a handle.

Lady Death came calling upon my family last night. It was around dinner time when the first bell chimed. It went unanswered as our dinner was eaten in an uneasy silence.

Last week I left a comment on a friend's article and in the comment, I left my real name. Shortly thereafter a Newsvine friend emailed me privately and warned me that I should be careful and that maybe I should consider asking the author to remove the comment.

The pen is mightier than the sword – but is it mightier than the spoken word? Can something you read on paper (or screen, as the case may be) be nearly as powerful as words that are accompanied by tone of voice? In my opinion, no, they cannot.

i wanted to take a moment and thank you for accepting the friends request. i have learned a whole new way of thinking through your articles and it has lead to some changes in my views. i have not commented much, but am reading and will be more active as i work my perceptions into my new thoughts. you are proof that a former correctional officer can understand views from both sides and still expand and learn new things. maddad

Just read your "About," and though I certainly haven't spent the time you have on this subject, I think it would be just as well to abolish prisons. Prisons are one of the greatest influence for crime that exist, as well as a huge drain on tax money. I once read that there is a much greater rate of crime among ex-convicts than there is in any other group of people; also that those who have been unjustly accused and convicted may turn to crime as a result of imprisonment. I have been part of a group that makes weekly visits to a state prison here in Mexico, and it's just a whole world that many people don't even realise exists. Very sad.
